Become a Parish Councillor

Are you interested in becoming a Parish Councillor? Parish Council elections are held every 4 years when the whole Parish Council stands down and local people have the opportunity to put themselves up for election as a Parish Councillor. Some of our present councillors will not be standing for re-election and it would be great to see some new people put themselves forward and help continue looking after this village that we are so fortunate to be able to call home.

It is an interesting position to hold in the Parish, where you handle the spending of the Precept (local tax), on the maintenance of The Grange and Pavilion, or additional spending on highways, cleansing, local needs of the community and having an input into planning applications.

South Derbyshire District Council have full information about the requirements and procedure for becoming a Parish Councillor on their website here. Notices will also be placed in the Parish.

If you are interested in putting yourself up for election and want information that we will receive from South Derbyshire District Council, please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council by phone on 01332 865226, email enquiries@ticknallparishcouncil.co.uk .
