Aston Through the Decades 1900-2020
2 Lodge Mews
Aston-on-Trent, Derby DE72 2DH
UK
Part of a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the exhibition will showcase photographs and information revealing how Aston on Trent has changed and developed over the past 120 years. A special display will provide an account of the various shops that have operated in the village over that time period. In partnership with the Aston & Weston Veterans’ Trust, the exhibition will also feature a commemoration of the celebration of VE Day in 1945.
A new publication will also be available for sale. The second edition of Telling Tales: Sharing Stories records the personal stories of many village residents over the years; full of fascinating, insightful and often amusing memories that reveal how people led their lives in the past.
The key role of the History Group is to collect, collate, record and archive the village history to provide an accessible, multi-platform heritage legacy for present and future generations: our exhibition is the latest contribution to that ever-continuing objective.
