St George’s is the parish church for Ticknall, much used by those who live locally for baptisms, weddings, funerals, Christmas and Easter services, Harvest Thanksgivings, Remembrances, Sunday services and many other uses by the community.
For the duration of the Covid-19 crisis, Ticknall Church is closed.
It has a marvellous acoustic and is a sought-after venue for concerts.
Sunday worship is generally at 9.15 a.m. (3rd Sunday, family service at 10.30 a.m.).
There is an excellent ring of bells and a strong and sizeable choir. Worship blends the traditional and the modern. Refreshments are served after worship and a warm welcome is offered to all in the community.
There is also a branch of the Mothers’ Union, and a Sunday School.
Services in Church
Congregations are increasing week by week which is very heartening.
We try to cater for all tastes with a variety of services:-
The first Sunday in the month, there is Morning Prayer at 9.15 am.
The second Sunday there is Sung Eucharist at 9.15 am where our choir often sings an anthem.
Following this service, the Sunday School meets, again in the church, at 10.30 am.
On the third Sunday, we have a 10.30 am Family Service where young families come together with the ‘older’ members of our church.
On the fourth Sunday, there is a shortened ‘said service’ of Holy Communion at 9.15 am.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after every service which gives us an opportunity to see our friends, meet and welcome newcomers and have a good chat. To make contact, please email Mary Hirst at email@example.com
