Ticknall CC cricketer Tom Kent-Smith first picked up a cricket bat at the age of five and now plays both junior and senior cricket at Ticknall. He also represented Derbyshire County Cricket since he was nine where he is a Batsman/Bowler. Tom says “Ticknall CC is a friendly family club and has given me excellent coaching and opportunities since I’ve been there.”
At the age of 11, Tom was introduced to indoor cricket, playing at Willows in Derby town centre. There he was invited to trial for the U13 England Squad. Having successfully completed the two-stage trials held in Birmingham he now joins the 12 person squad to represent England in Christchurch New Zealand this October in the World Series Tournament. The squad meets every week in Birmingham at Action Indoor Sport, where they have an intensive training programme.
Currently, indoor cricket in the UK is an unfunded sport and hence Tom has to find £3,485 plus travel expenses to take part. This covers all associated costs with taking part in the tournament.
To help with this his mum Alison has set up a Just Giving Page at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Alison-Kent-Smith . Alison is, of course, keen to raise awareness so any help to achieve her target would be fantastic! Just click on the link or copy/paste the URL into your browser address bar.
