Vikings in Leicestershire

England was divided into Anglo Saxon Kingdoms and Leicestershire was part of Mercia. Leicestershire was one of five boroughs of the Danelaw together with Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln and Stamford.

The next meeting of the TPHS will be held on Tuesday 25 January at 2.00 pm in Ticknall Village Hall. The speaker will be Peter Liddle, retired chief archaeologist for Leicestershire, giving a talk on the Vikings in Leicestershire.

Peter looks at the archaeological evidence of the activities of the Vikings.

We shall be completing new membership forms for the coming year so that our information is up-to-date and we are able to contact you individually. For members of the 2019/2020 season, there will be no charge for membership for this year to cover for the lost months of 2020 but for new members, it will be £4 individual or £6 for a couple.
