TPHS Guided Tour Melbourne Hall Gardens @ Melbourne Hall The Gardens, | Melbourne | England | United Kingdom

Our first meeting of 2021 is a guided tour of Melbourne Hall gardens. Our guide will be Philip Heath, who is the archivist at Melbourne Hall. I’m sure he will be giving us some little-known insights into this fabulous garden.

We will meet at the entrance to the gardens at 1.00 pm on 22nd September 2021. We have arranged a group discounted entrance fee of £5 which will be paid on the day. Payment by card is preferred but cash is accepted. Please try to have the exact payment to avoid change shortages.

We expect the tour to be approximately one hour. For those requiring refreshments afterwards, the Hall Tearooms will be open on a self-pay basis.

If you would like to join this visit please pre-book by contacting Celia Sanger on 01283 762064 or email  celia.sanger@btinternet.com Friends and guests are welcome.

Come and Sing: Derby Bach Choir @ St. Georges Church, Ticknall
Sep 25 @ 11:00 am
Come and Sing: Derby Bach Choir @ St. Georges Church, Ticknall | Ticknall | England | United Kingdom

Come and Sing is back !!!! Conductor James Foulds, Organist Tom Corfield.

Our annual event, which combines rehearsal & performance in a beautiful rural setting.

Fauré Requiem and Choruses from Vivaldi Gloria

Our programme both commemorates those lost to Covid 19 and celebrates our return to singing in this sociable annual event. Rehearse and perform with us in a beautiful rural setting. Because of restrictions, our usual format including supper has been reduced (as has the price): we will provide light refreshments in the rehearsal break but would ask everyone to bring their own lunch. We would encourage participants to wear masks when not singing and to be responsible in keeping appropriate space.

Download the brochure here.

  • Proceedings start at 11.00 a.m. for registration and coffee followed by a rehearsal at 11.00
  • Lunch break at 1.00 p.m.  (please bring your own food)
  • Rehearsal at 1.30 p.m.
  • Comfort Break at 3.00 p.m.
  • Performance at 3.30 p.m.
If you would like to sing, music should be available on the day. The cost for the day is £12
For more details, telephone Jenny Casboult on 01335 350285.
If you just want to come to the final performance that would be lovely.
Please park in the School Playground Car Park at the end of Rose Lane. The Village Hall Car Park is not available.

Aston Through the Decades 1900-2020 @ All Saints’ Heritage Centre, Aston on Trent
Oct 9 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Part of a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the exhibition will showcase photographs and information revealing how Aston on Trent has changed and developed over the past 120 years. A special display will provide an account of the various shops that have operated in the village over that time period. In partnership with the Aston & Weston Veterans’ Trust, the exhibition will also feature a commemoration of the celebration of VE Day in 1945.

A new publication will also be available for sale. The second edition of Telling Tales: Sharing Stories records the personal stories of many village residents over the years; full of fascinating, insightful and often amusing memories that reveal how people led their lives in the past.

The key role of the History Group is to collect, collate, record and archive the village history to provide an accessible, multi-platform heritage legacy for present and future generations: our exhibition is the latest contribution to that ever-continuing objective.
