T G Green was based in Church Gresley, producing kitchenware and domestic pottery. They are best known for their blue and white Cornishware.

Iain Hambling is the archivist for the company and runs the museum. He brings with him examples of their production and tells how Cornishware got its name.

Ticknall Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

To coincide with the Service of Thanksgiving held in St. Paul’s Cathedral, there will be an event in the village hall so that Ticknall people can watch it together on a big screen. The Coffee Club will provide breakfast baps (bacon and sausage) and various pastries and savouries with vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Everyone is welcome. There will also be a ‘Jubilee Walk’, leaving from the Village Hall car park at 9.15 am and returning in time for the service.

Ticknall’s newly formed WI will provide a Coffee Morning in the Village Hall.

There will be a Jubilee cake competition for adults and a decorated biscuit competition for children with prizes for the best.

Ticknall Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Ticknall Village Jubilee Picnic in the Village Hall gardens from 12.30.  Bring your own picnic and drinks, and if possible, your own seats.  A hog roast will be served from 1.30, first come, first served.

There will be music from local folk stars, Stargazy, games and children’s craft.

Much of the catering over the events including the hog roast will be free of charge but we will be having donation boxes out and money collected to be given to charities of which the Queen is a patron.

Beautiful view of Melbourne Pool from balustraded terrace running length of 1829 house. Garden drops steeply by paths and steps to lawn with herbaceous borders and bank of some 60 shrubs. Numerous paths lead to different areas of the garden, providing different planting opportunities including a bog garden, glade, shrubbery, grasses, herb and vegetable garden, rose tunnel, orchard and small woodland.

Each year, one particular aspect of Melbourne’s history is investigated and an exhibition of the findings is presented.

The next Melbourne Historical Research Group exhibition is called “The Women of Melbourne“. The great and the good, the industrious, independent and ill-fated, the resilient, remarkable and hardworking home-makers.

It will take place on 11th & 12th June 2022 at the Assembly Rooms.

The event is free, and refreshments will be available.
