Some of you may not know the history of our association with Mary’s Meals so here is a little update for you . . .
We began the Luncheon Club in September 2008 with both enthusiastic volunteers and diners alike. In June 2009 Merrick Adams brought us a cutting out of the Daily Telegraph about Mary’s Meals. It is a Global Charity that serves life-changing meals to some of the world’s poorest children in their place of education. The meals encourage children into the classroom giving them the energy to concentrate to gain an education and a brighter future not only for themselves but for their communities.
We all made the decision to give monies each month to this Charity and since we began in July 2009, we have given a total of £2760.
They estimate it costs just under £16 a year to feed one child. Everyone can feel proud we have helped in a small way and will continue to do so with your support.
The Volunteers are also considering donating goods to the local Food Banks and more details about this will follow.
Please see the website www.marysmeals.org.uk for more details.
